Michel Debré served as Prime Minister of France during the Fifth Republic, from 1959 to 1962. He was a member of the Gaullist party and was a close ally of President Charles de Gaulle. Debré was responsible for drafting the constitution of the Fifth Republic and for implementing many of the reforms that were introduced during this period. He also played a key role in the French withdrawal from Algeria.
