Michel Mayor received his MS in Physics from the University of Lausanne in 1966. He went on to earn a PhD in Astronomy from the University of Geneva in 1971. Mayor has been a professor at the University of Geneva since 1972. He is best known for his work on exoplanets, and he is the co-discoverer of 51 Pegasi b, the first exoplanet discovered around a Sun-like star.
