Miguel Díaz-Canel was born on April 20, 1960, in Havana, Cuba. He is a Cuban politician and the sixth and current president of Cuba, in office since 10 October 2018. Díaz-Canel was first elected to the National Assembly of People's Power in 2003 and was appointed first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba's Central Committee in April 2018, becoming the country's first non-Castro to hold that position.
