Miguel Primo de Rivera was a Spanish general who served as the dictator of Spain from 1923 to 1930. He was born in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain in 1870 and joined the military at a young age. He quickly rose through the ranks and by 1911 he had been promoted to Brigadier General. In 1923, he led a military coup against the government and became the dictator of Spain.
