Mikhail Vasilyevich Frunze (; February 18, 1885 – October 31, 1925) was a Soviet military leader and revolutionary, and one of the leading figures of the Red Army during the Russian Civil War. He served as the first Soviet Minister of Defense from January 28, 1925, until his death from a ruptured appendix on October 31, 1925.
