Answer
Mithridates VI Eupator (132-63 BC) was a ruler of the ancient kingdom of Pontus, in Asia Minor (modern Turkey). After his death, he became known as Mithridates the Great, in part due to his reputation for being a skilled and ruthless military commander. He fought several wars against the Roman Republic, and at one point managed to conquer much of Asia Minor.
