Mohammad Hatta was born in Fort de Kock, Dutch East Indies, which is now known as Bukittinggi, Indonesia. He was a prominent Indonesian politician, statesman, and independence activist who served as the first Vice President of Indonesia from 1945 to 1956. Hatta was also a key figure in the Indonesian National Revolution and was instrumental in negotiating Indonesia's independence from the Netherlands.
