Möngke Khan was a member of the Toluid Dynasty, which was a branch of the Mongolian Empire. The Toluids were descended from Genghis Khan, the founder of the empire. Möngke Khan was the fourth Great Khan of the Mongolian Empire and reigned from 1251 to 1259. He was responsible for expanding the empire into Europe and Central Asia.
