Murad V was the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire from August 30 to September 29, 1876. He was deposed by his uncle, Abdul Hamid II, after only 93 days on the throne. Murad was suffering from mental illness, and it was believed that he was unfit to rule. Abdul Hamid II then ascended to the throne and ruled for 33 years.
