Musa al-Kazim was born in Medina. He was the seventh Imam in the Twelver Shia branch of Islam. He was also the son of the sixth Imam, Ja'far al-Sadiq. Musa al-Kazim is considered to be a major figure in Shia Islam and is revered by Shia Muslims. He is also considered to be a martyr, as he was poisoned to death by the Abbasid caliph, Harun al-Rashid.
