Composer and conductor Mykhailo Leontovych was a Ukrainian composer, conductor and ethnomusicologist. He was one of the most important figures in the development of Ukrainian music in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His compositions were inspired by Ukrainian folk music and he was a leading figure in the Ukrainian national revival movement. He was also a conductor of the Lviv National Opera and the Kiev Conservatory Orchestra.
