Ngô Đình Diệm spent his years in exile in Japan, the U.S. and Europe. He fled Vietnam in 1954 after the Geneva Accords divided the country into North and South Vietnam. He first went to Japan, where he stayed for two years. He then moved to the U.S., where he lived for six years. Finally, he moved to Europe, where he spent the rest of his life.
