Sunderland was the club managed by Niall Quinn. The Irish striker took over as player-manager of the Black Cats in 2006 and remained in charge for two years. During his tenure, Quinn guided Sunderland to the Championship play-offs in 2007, but they lost to Derby County in the semi-finals. He left the club in 2008 after they were relegated to League One.
