Before he attended college, Nnamdi Azikiwe was exposed to three Nigerian languages: Igbo, English, and Hausa. Azikiwe was born in the town of Zungeru, in what was then Northern Nigeria, and his family spoke Igbo. He learned English at school, and Hausa was a common language in Northern Nigeria.
