Nnamdi Azikiwe started his journalism career in Gold Coast (now Ghana) in 1924. He wrote for several newspapers, including the Gold Coast Leader and the African Morning Post. In 1934, he founded his own newspaper, the West African Pilot. Azikiwe's journalism was a major influence on the development of Nigerian nationalism and independence.
