Oleksandr Turchynov left the Fatherland party in 2014 to start the People's Front. He had been the party's leader since 2005, and had served as prime minister of Ukraine from 2010 to 2014. He left the party after it lost the 2014 Ukrainian parliamentary election, and he said that he wanted to create a new party that would be more united and more effective in fighting corruption.
