Omar Khadr is a Canadian citizen who was born in Toronto, Ontario. He was captured by American forces in Afghanistan in 2002 at the age of 15 and held at Guantanamo Bay for ten years without trial. In 2010, he pleaded guilty to five war crimes and was sentenced to 40 years in prison. In 2012, he was transferred to Canada and released on bail.
