Otto IV retired to Saxony after being abandoned by his supporters. He was a German nobleman who was crowned Holy Roman Emperor in 1209. However, his reign was short-lived and he was deposed by Philip of Swabia in 1215. After his deposition, Otto IV fled to Saxony, where he lived in exile until his death in 1218.
