Otto Rank was born in Austria in 1884. He was a student of Sigmund Freud and was one of the first people to study the psychology of creativity. Rank developed his own theories about the nature of human beings and their relationships with each other. He believed that people are born with an innate desire for self-expression and that this desire is often thwarted by the demands of society.
