Paul Lauterbur was an American chemist who was the co-inventor of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). MRI is a medical imaging technique that uses magnetic fields and radio waves to produce detailed images of the inside of the body. Lauterbur received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2003 for his work on MRI.
