Héloïse d'Argenteuil (1100/1101 – 1164) was a French abbess, scholar, and writer who became Abelard's student and wife. Héloïse was born to a prominent family in Paris and was educated by her uncle, Canon Fulbert. She became a pupil of Peter Abelard, a famous teacher of philosophy and theology, and the two fell in love.
