Mandelson entered Parliament in 1992, representing the Hartlepool constituency. He quickly rose through the ranks of the Labour Party, becoming a close ally of Tony Blair. Mandelson served in various ministerial positions under Blair, including Secretary of State for Trade and Industry and Secretary of State for Northern Ireland. He was also the party's campaign director for the 1997 and 2001 general elections.
