Philip the Fair (21 August 1268 – 29 November 1314) was King of France from 1285 to his death. He was the eldest son of Philip III and Isabella of Aragon, and was named after his paternal grandfather Philip II Augustus. Philip's reign was marked by conflict with the Papacy, as he sought to expand royal power at the expense of the Church.
