Philip Noel-Baker was known for his long campaign for disarmament. He was born in London in 1889 and studied at Oxford University. After graduating, he worked as a journalist and then became involved in politics. He was elected to Parliament in 1929 and served as a Labour Party MP for over 40 years. He was also a member of the League of Nations and the United Nations.
