After ending his term as a Member of Parliament, Philip Noel-Baker became a life peer, and held this position until his death in 1982. He was a member of the Labour Party, and served as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in the 1945-51 Labour government. He was also a Nobel Peace Prize winner, and was awarded the prize in 1959 for his work on disarmament.
