Pridi Banomyong was a Thai politician and statesman who served as Prime Minister of Thailand from 1946 to 1948. He was a leading figure in the Thai Revolution of 1932 and was the first prime minister of the new constitutional monarchy. In 1949, he was involved in an attempted counter-coup against the military government of Plaek Phibunsongkhram.
