The third child of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert was Prince Arthur, who was born on 1 May 1850. He was a popular member of the royal family and served in the British Army during the Crimean War and the Second Boer War. He was also a patron of the arts and a keen sportsman. Arthur died of pneumonia in 1910 at the age of 60.
