Proclus died on April 17, 485, after a long life of teaching, writing, and leading the Neoplatonic school of philosophy in Athens. Proclus was born in 412, and he became the head of the Neoplatonic school in 437. He was a prolific writer, and he wrote commentaries on many of the works of Plato and Aristotle. Proclus was also a mathematician, and he wrote a commentary on Euclid's Elements.
