Proclus was born on 8 February 412 in Constantinople, the capital of the Byzantine Empire. He was a Neoplatonist philosopher who was one of the most influential thinkers of the Middle Ages. His most important work is the Elements of Theology, which is a systematic exposition of Neoplatonic metaphysics.
