The Third Syrian War (246–241 BC) was fought between the Egyptian Ptolemaic Kingdom and the Seleucid Empire. The war was caused by a dispute over control of Coele-Syria and Phoenicia. Ptolemy III, the king of Egypt, invaded Syria and defeated the Seleucid army at the Battle of Raphia. This victory allowed the Ptolemaic Kingdom to maintain control of Coele-Syria and Phoenicia.
