Pulcheria was the daughter of Emperor Arcadius and Aelia Eudoxia. She was born in 399 and became empress of the Eastern Roman Empire in 414 after the death of her brother Theodosius II. Pulcheria was a devout Christian and a strong supporter of the Orthodox Church. She also played an important role in the Roman Empire's relations with the Sassanid Empire. Pulcheria died in 453.
