Pulcheria was the daughter of Emperor Arcadius and Aelia Eudoxia. Eudoxia was the daughter of the western Roman Emperor Valentinian III and his wife Licinia Eudoxia. Eudoxia was also the granddaughter of the eastern Roman Emperor Theodosius I and his wife Aelia Flaccilla. Pulcheria was the sister of Emperor Theodosius II and she was a major figure in the Byzantine Empire during the 5th century AD.
