Tikhon Khrennikov was born in 1913. He was a Soviet composer, pianist, conductor, and music administrator. He served as the General Secretary of the Union of Soviet Composers from 1948 to 1991. Khrennikov's music was influenced by Russian folk music and the works of Sergei Prokofiev and Dmitri Shostakovich. He composed operas, ballets, symphonies, and concertos.
