Who did Qutuz form a pact with to confront the Mongols?

  • The Persians

  • The Romans

  • The Crusaders

  • The Vikings

Answer

Qutuz, a Mamluk general and sultan of Egypt, formed a pact with the Crusaders to confront the Mongols. The Mongols had conquered Baghdad in 1258, and were now threatening Egypt. The Crusaders were willing to help the Mamluks, as they were also enemies of the Mongols. The two forces met at the Battle of Ain Jalut in 1260, and the Mamluks emerged victorious.
