Ram Dass traveled extensively throughout the 1970s and 1980s, holding fundraisers for charitable causes. He also gave lectures and workshops, and published a number of books. In 1986, he founded the Hanuman Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides education and support to people with HIV/AIDS. In 1991, he founded the Seva Foundation, which works to improve the lives of people in need around the world.
