Rashid al-Din Hamadani was a statesman, historian, and physician who lived in Ilkhanate Iran during the 13th and 14th centuries. He is best known for his world history, the Jami' al-Tawarikh, which is one of the most important sources of information about the Mongol Empire. He also wrote a number of other works, including biographies of the Mongol khans and a treatise on medicine.
