General Carlos Prats was a Chilean general and politician. He was President of Chile from 1970 to 1973, during the presidency of Salvador Allende. In 1973, a military coup d'état led by General Augusto Pinochet overthrew Allende and installed Pinochet as President. Prats was forced into exile in Argentina, where he was assassinated in 1974 by agents of the Pinochet regime.
