Raymond Daniel Manczarek, known professionally as Ray Manzarek, was an American musician best known as the keyboardist and co-founder of the rock band The Doors. Manzarek was born in Chicago, Illinois, on February 12, 1939. He adopted the stage name "Ray Manzarek" in the early 1960s, shortly before forming The Doors with Jim Morrison, Robby Krieger, and John Densmore.
