Jules-Albert de Dion was born in Paris, France in 1856. He was a French engineer and industrialist who is credited with being one of the pioneers of the automobile industry. He founded the De Dion-Bouton company in 1883 with his brother-in-law, Georges Bouton. The company produced a variety of early automobiles, including the first gasoline-powered car in 1895.
