Assistant Coach was Rex Ryan's first coaching position. He began his coaching career in 1994 as a graduate assistant at Eastern Kentucky University. After two seasons at Eastern Kentucky, Ryan moved on to become the defensive line coach at New Mexico State University in 1996. He spent three seasons at New Mexico State before joining the Baltimore Ravens as their defensive line coach in 1999.
