Answer
Riccardo Patrese first won a Formula One race at the 1983 South African Grand Prix. He was driving for Brabham, and he took the lead on lap 52 when his teammate Nelson Piquet's engine failed. Patrese held on to win the race by just over a second. This was Patrese's first win in 140 starts, and it helped him to finish the season in third place.
