Robert Bárány was an otologist, a medical specialist who studies the ears, hearing, balance, and related structures. He was a Nobel Prize winner in Physiology or Medicine for his discovery of the semicircular canals and their function in balance. He also invented the Bárány chair, which is used to test balance.
