Robert, Duke of Normandy ruled Normandy in the 12th century. He was the youngest son of William the Conqueror, who had conquered England in 1066. Robert succeeded his brother William Rufus as Duke of Normandy in 1096, but he was not a popular ruler. He was deposed by his brother Henry I in 1106 and spent the rest of his life in exile.
