Answer
Robert Guéï was a military leader who served as the President of Côte d'Ivoire from December 1999 to October 2000. He was initially installed as president after overthrowing the democratically elected president Henri Konan Bédié in a coup d'état. He then held elections in which he was the only candidate, and was elected president. However, his rule was marred by widespread human rights abuses and corruption.
