Ungern was a Russian-born, Mongolian-based military leader who fought against the Bolsheviks during the Russian Civil War and later led an invasion of Mongolia. After conquering the country, Ungern imposed order on the city of Ikh Khüree and set about to restore the former Qing Dynasty. Ungern's reign was short-lived, however, and he was eventually captured and executed by the Red Army.
