Christian II ruled as King of Sweden from 1520 to 1521. His reign was marked by conflict with the Swedish nobility and the eventual Stockholm Bloodbath, in which many of his opponents were executed. Christian II was eventually deposed by Gustav Vasa, who became the first King of Sweden from the House of Vasa.
