Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas was dismissed from the post of Governor of Kufa by Caliph Umar in 642. Umar had been concerned about the increasing power of Sa'd and his army, and he believed that Sa'd was becoming too independent. Umar also believed that Sa'd was not a good administrator and that he was not treating the people of Kufa well.
