Naim Frashëri, known as the national poet of Albania, spent the majority of his life within the vast expanse of the Ottoman Empire, which at that time encompassed a large portion of the Balkans, including Albania. Although he later resided briefly in Romania and Egypt, his formative years and significant contributions to Albanian literature transpired while he was under Ottoman rule.
