Answer
Sally Ride traveled to space twice, becoming the first American woman to do so. Her first mission was aboard the Space Shuttle Challenger in 1983, and her second was aboard the same shuttle in 1984. During her missions, Ride conducted experiments and operated the shuttle's robotic arm. She also helped to deploy satellites and repair a communications satellite.
