Samuel Griffith attended the University of Sydney, where he studied law. He graduated in 1862 and was admitted to the Bar in 1863. He went on to become a prominent lawyer and politician, and served as Premier of Queensland from 1883 to 1888. He was also the first Chief Justice of Queensland from 1893 to 1903.
